Results of the weekend and MNF

August 18th 2008 04:47
Oh boy, this weekend through up a few curveballs. Luckily i only got stung once and was able to recover.

Unfortunately the Broncos let down the multi. The Warriors, like i thought, were too strong for the Sharks. They should be a tipper's favourite leading into the finals.
The Broncos were pretty poor against the Saints. Gasnier shone and i thought stole the game for the red and white.

Luckily for me the All-Blacks recovered my money with a comprehensive schooling of South Africa.

With the weekend gona, my new blance looks like this:

Previous Balance - $1000

New Balance -$1006

I guess a $6 growth over 2 days is better than most banks offer these days.

Now, tonight has a pretty good game which has enticed my attention.

Parramatta Eels ( Home ) vs Wests Tigers

Basically, how i see it, Feleti Mateo is the key to this game. Tigers are known for their lack of size and a player like him can open a game right up. However if he has a quiet night, the Tigers will stomp their exciting play all over the blue and gold.
Although the Eels had a victory against the Roosters, it was more of a deflated Roosters loss on the back of a heavy penalty count than a Parramatta win. In the last 5 meeting, the games ( all of which the Eels have won ) have averaged 44.4 points. Definately a good sign for the Over/Under punter.

Tonight i am going for the Tigers at a very attractice price of 2.05 for the outright win.

Bet: $100.6
Price: $2.05
Result: $206.23

Lets hope for a blowout so my blood pressure does not cop a battering.

Where my money is headed this week.

August 14th 2008 04:39
Ok guys, in tradition of leading by example i will put my own money where my mouth is to see just how much money i can bring back.

Just some quick rules before i start:

- Starting balance of $1000
- The punting amount will always be 10% of the balance
- The multis can never exceed more than 3 options

Lets get started!

This weekend, i'm going for a solid start:

$50 on Brisbane and Warriors (giving away a 3.5 start) to get up in a multi.

Price - $2.71; Return - $135.61

$50 on the All-Blacks to beat South Africa giving away a 2.5 point start

Price - $2.12; Return - $106

Saturday NRL & Rugby Union

August 13th 2008 11:46
Ok guys, this weekend we have been blessed with some good prices.

With the exception of the Broncos game, this is the best game to have a punt on this weekend.

Auckland Warriors ( home ) vs Cronulla Sharks
Auckland Warriors are my tip to the dark horse of the finals. They are a physical side capable of piling the points on. Although their defence has looked flimsy at times, i am sure they have worked very hard on it. Cronulla, is pretty much on the opposite side of the fence, while excelling in defence, it seems like they cannot buy points. Looking over their squad i just don't see any game breakers except Brett Kearney. Pomeroy is a dangerous weapon but he doesn't seem to use his explosiveness enough.

I am very impressed with the Warriors centres and second rowers, they play very physically and really intimidate teams with brute force. Add to that Vatuvei who is very handy on run backs, and is pretty much a forward who plays on the wing.
Steve Price deserves a special mention, he has been their best player all year. Whenever he and Tate play the Warriors just seem like a different side. I guess their experience calms the team down as the Warriors are known for not keeping cool heads during games.

Take Warriors outright as they are paying an attractive price. If you are chasing a bit more coin, McKinnon or Price as MOM will be attractive.

Additional:
All Blacks and Springboks are even odds in their game which is on the Boks home soil. I'd take the All Blacks in a very close game.
A good thing to remember in Union especially when the cheating South Africans play ( joking guys ) is that 70% of the time, the opening score is a penalty. Both teams slot their own fair share so even if you want to spread between the two teams, it should be pretty much locked in.
